Mexican Fender Stratocaster by Squier???

I picked up a cheap strat on ebay to form the basis of a Frankenstrat
project! But I am puzzled by what I bought. and could use some input from
the experts out there.

The headstock is the small version with a Fender logo (like the current
logo) except in solid black. s/n/ is MN4 25xxx. . and in the 'Contoured
Body' spot is a 'Squier Series' decal.

The neck is an 80's slab rosewood with what could be a biflex truss rod
hole. (but the neck securing plate is only 4 bolt - no biflex hole!)
Machines are unmarked fexagonal shape. The neck has a skunk stripe. Seems
like a nice neck.

The body feels light. has a single-ply 11 hole white pickguard. and the
pickups are staggered. The trem unit looks a little like a 1970's die cast
model.

Haven't had the neck off yet. ot the pickguard (it just came) - but was
surpried by the headstock logo - and the neck quality.
