Carvin Bolt (used) vs: new Standard strat..which?

Which would you buy and why? Or am I missing another great strta type
for not much money? (I am already very familiar with all the Yamaha
models)Thanks.

and I've played many of both (live close enough to Hollywood
to visit the outlet store) they match up pretty well. It depends on which
turns you on I guess. I'd go for the Bolt kit and save a bunch of money.
Plus you can customize it. The Carvin neck is really spectacular I'll say.
If you are not good at finishing. pay the extra dough and get the Tung
Oiled neck option. I liked that so much the first time I played a Carvin I
stripped the neck on all my guitar's and basses and put on tung oil. Love
it. Actually tung oil is very easy to apply and also very forgiving in the
process.
Let us know what you decide and how it turns out.

meaning I'm too lazy to swap.

and find the Carvin to be superior to the Strat in
just about every way. I have customized both. but the Carvin is just a
really great guitar. Got it $350 used. I chuckle about that everytime
I play it.

only thing I didnt like about the bolt kit is the body is a bit blocky.... I
really like Fender strat body because it has some really sexy contour that
feels real comfortable. I cant comment on pickups because they sound pretty
much the same to me. except some are noisier than others....

I don't know what "blocky" means. but mine is as rounded as my
strat. Maybe the original buyer had it rounded. I have a buddy who
has a couple of Carvin neck thrus. and know a guy who has a Holdsworth.
All are nicely rounded.

I am with you. I think the Holdsworth is a pretty cool looking
guitar. I listened to a jazz quartet play last month. and the guitar
player had one along with a hollowbody Godin. Sounded great. and after
checking it out during a break. decided the neck is just too fat for
me. Pretty sweet guitar though.

We'll have to see about the neck. I'm used to a wide classical neck. I
want this for some jazz stuff.

and have had 2 others in the past (2 Artist).
The top on my Carvin (high end quilt) is nicer than any I have had on a
PRS. I think they are an amazing guitar for the $.
