Videotaping and Singing
I have started trying to videotape myelf playing. But I am having a problem.
When I play off camera. I dont seem to have any problems getting through the
song without too many errors. But when I am taping. Cant seem to get
past the first few chords or notes without going into total screw up mode. I
must have recorded 500 files yesterday and deleted them all as none measured
up even though I am playing some fairly basic blues. Cant figure out what
the problem is. Although I was thinking possibly when I just play for myself
I dont worry too much about mistakes but when I am recording and know its
going to be posted for all to see I notice every single little error. (After
watching half a dozen of those videos of that guy on the accoustic doing
those Beatles songs it shouldnt matter to me). I plan to try again tomorow.
Any recomendations?
I do a lot of playing and zero singing.I am a fairly half
decent singer. can carry a tune so so. Ill probably try both but I was
thinking it might be better to play the song. then add the vocals in after I
record the guitar rather than singing along with playing. which I find to be
hard..lately.
Affirmed on all the above posts. I'll record 3 or 4 tracks. go
back and blend together the best of each for recordings. Everybody
does it. so don't think you're alone in not being able to zip
through a riff blemish-free.
I have found some of my best sounds after totally screwing up.
getting a little mad. I wouldn't have found some of these tones if I
hadn't kept the tape running.
I think it was Neil Young who said just record everything. then you won't
always be thinking about "ok.
